News Packages
Throughout my coursework in broadcast news, I learned how to shoot and edit B-roll and A-roll, record soundbites, voiceovers, and standups, and write scripts for broadcast. I created full news packages and whips, gaining hands-on experience in storytelling, editing, and on-camera reporting. These projects helped me build the skills I need to thrive in journalism
Food Prices OnScene
A short news package focused on a hypothetical story about rising food and drink prices at the University of South Florida's Tampa campus. The package highlights the university’s decision to increase prices by 15% to cover escalating Bull Runner shuttle costs while ensuring bottled water and fruit remain unaffected. Through this project, I demonstrated my ability to craft a concise, well-structured news story, conduct research, and deliver professional-quality reporting for a portfolio showcase.
Parking Package
a news package about USF’s plan to add 300 student-only parking spots on the Tampa campus. The story covered how state grants and student advocacy made the project possible. This assignment let me showcase my skills in scriptwriting, shooting B-roll, and editing to deliver a clear, engaging piece.
Equipment Whip Package
a whip news package about USF’s new cardio equipment that turns workouts into electricity. The package featured two standups, a VO, and steady B-roll showcasing the innovative ECO-POWR machines. This project highlighted my ability to structure a story, shoot dynamic footage, and deliver polished, engaging content.
Oncampus Speeding Package
a news package about speeding issues on USF’s Tampa campus. As the photographer, I shot B-roll and interviews and edited all A-roll to create a polished OnScene/LookLive package. The story included two SOTs, dynamic standups, and engaging visuals, showcasing my ability to capture compelling footage and craft a well-structured narrative.
